The lighthouse

A lighthouse is for me a symbol of foreseeing. Seeing further, seeing more details, then most people. I teach kids to see more, to observe and notice things that most people do not. I love to do that. And it’s amazing how kids respond.

One of my uncles told me recently that my great-grand-mother, which I didn’t have the chance to know, was telling my grandfather when he was young that he would see a man go step on the moon in his life. Everybody was laughing discreetly. No one believed her of course. When they did it, the first step on the moon, my uncle remembered seeing my grandfather crying. Her mother was absolutely right. It had a special meaning to him.

I think I have this sense of foreseeing in my life in general. I remember when I was young, I would tell my sister funny things, like: You’ll see we will become rich one day. I will have a horse... We will have lots and lots of money. I have know idea were I took all this, but today I wonder... I am not rich but I am realizing more and more that I feel rich. And the richness I have can never be robbed or taken to me. I feel very rich inside. And this is the richness I would like to transmit. Not a material one, but a personal one, an inner one, one that cannot be stolen or lost. I want top write to transmit passion. Not to make money but to save lives. I love to transmit hope to people because hope is what makes miracles possible. When you hope, when you dream, everything is possible, even stepping on the moon, even stopping wars forever, even human equality. I am always amazed by the miracle of human nature. We are really wonderful, in our horror as much as in our constructive delights. I see in little kids the extent of that potential. We are really amazing. So I love that symbol because it means to me a possible wonderful future.
